Loved socks. If not for the price, I would have gotten moreI was skeptical to purchase at first but so glad I did....this pair is super comfortable and warm....worn with quality pair hiking shoes and I can walk all day....I have ordered another pair....excellent qualityThese are the most confortable socks. However I bought these 'heavy crew' for a week long backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon thinking they'd be more cushiony when ive been using the lighter weight Smart Wool socks and had broken in my boots with the lighter socks. These will work well for people who are used to thicker socks or with my mountaineering boots. It was a mistake on my part to get the new heavy crews for the first time on a long trip ... but after my trip and a blister on my arch from the friction of a thicker sock than I'm used to, I been wearing these around like slipper socks or with my crocs. So comfy. I'm sticking with the lighter weight smart wool socks for my regular hiking boots. But it was my mistake so not sure it's fair to lower a point, especially when these socks are so comfortable for other uses I don't regret buying them now that my trip is over and im using them for other things other than with my regular hiking boots. Smart wool always makes high quality socks. Just need to choose the right kind for your specific use. As a backpacker/hiker/mountaineer I should have known better.I own several different types of smartwool socks. Hiking, dress, and running, and this is the first pair that isn’t “5 starts”.They’re great socks; they keep my feet warm In my Iron Ranger boots, but they peel fuzz balls at the ankles. These are the only pair that have ever done that. I believe it’s from the extra layer of fabric they put in the socks. It’s not a big deal, and they serve there purpose of keep my feet warm and cozy.I bought these for my friend who’s feet are constantly cold. At this point she pretty much refuses to take them off. They are also pretty much all that I wear during the New England winter. These are most comfortable socks! Thus us the 2nd pair I bought. Completely wore out the 1st pairAfter constant wear each fall/will tee for the past 4 years. So happy I was able to get them still.I bought these socks because I was tired of my feet getting cold while working outside. These bad boys can go down to 32 degrees easy and, while they won't keep your feet hot, they won't be cold either. I've also worn them in 70+ degree weather and my feet never got hot or sweaty. I don't know what kind of magic enchantment are on these, but they just work.Very high quality and recommended by Marine recon.I used these for years then tried Yuedge (made for tiny feet) and Danish Endurance (not much merino in them really) to save a few pounds, but it was a false economy. Once I got another pair of Smartwool, I could see there was no comparison and my feet are kept at a nice temperature year round, no smells or noticeable sweat and just so very very comfortable. I you are buying Merino socks, always check the actual content of merino wool, as many have only 50% or less and the rest is synthetic garbage. I bought the Smartwool heavy hiking socks and also the Smartwool Indestructawool versions for work in steel toe boots and they rock. Yes, very expensive, so I bought two pairs every payday this year and binned all my other socks at the end. Your feet are worth it. (Yuedge LMAO at those plasticky socks...you know they pay ppl for good reviews right!)Christ, these are like wearing fluffy clouds on your feet.I've huge calves, so need to fold them down to my ankle but when I do so, it feels like I'm wearing the softest of soft booties, and they mould to my wide feet easily, and I just absolutely love wearing them.If these socks were a woman, they'd be Gillian Anderson level greatness. They're that lovely.I do a lot of walking and use professional walking boots. These socks are one of the msot comfortable I've ever worn, whether out walking or pottering about the house. They keep your feet warm on cooler days and, I always find this strange, they keep your feet cool on warmer days! They are admittedly an indulgence when it comes to socks, but they worth it.For the comfort, warmth in winter, cooling in summer and general wear (I've had mine 6 months and they look like new) I think these are great value for money. Most of the time you get what you pay for, and these are heaven on your feet!Used this sock on a 45mile walk in the Highlands carrying 18kg. Paired up with Inov8 Roclite ProG boots. The boots normally run a little hot, found this socks to be excellent for moisture management and comfort. The socks are pretty thick and are therefore ideal if you size your footwear up. Overall a great sock which served me well, no sign of any blisters or even hotspots but I think some of that is also down to the boots I wore which are comfortable out of the box.I have bought Smartwool socks and boxer shorts for many years but the quality seems to be getting worse. These "Adult Trekking Heavy Crew" socks feel thin and although badged as Large (the size I normally buy) are far too big for my size 10 feet. The boxer shorts available now are also lighter than the ones I used to buy and don't last very long before wearing through. I will definitely be looking at other brands in the future.
