I use these to skate pools and other terrain. The outer surface is pretty resistant to tough surfaces so they work great. My personal preference would be for a lighter shoe but that would eliminate the toughness. If u wear knee pads, while skating, and plan on using them then your shoes will drag on the cement or wood and that dont phase these bad boys!
